Plot: Monsieur Loisel present Mathilde with an invitaion to the ministry of Educations formal party.
Exposition: He thought that Mathilde will be happy but she became immediately upset because she doesn't have a gown that she believes is nice to wear in this kind of event.
Rising action: mathilde's tears sway monsieur loisel into buying a dress for her despite money being too tight. mathilde ask dor 400 francs. monsieur loisel was planning on using 400 francs he saved up dor a gun, himself but agrees to give the money to his wife. mathilde also decided to borrow a jewelry from madame forestier. she picks a diamond necklace form madame forestier's box.Falling action: the party goes well for mathilde, who is the belle of the ball. when the night comes to and end and and the couple returns home, mathilde was saddened about the humble state of her life compared to the fairytale party she was just at. but this emotion quickly turns into panic when she realized that the diamond necklace she borrowed from madame forestier was missing. Climax: the Loisels searched for the necklace but failed. They decide to replace it without telling madame foriester that mathilde lost it. They find a similar looking necklace. They cannot afford it so they take out and go into debt. After 10years, Loisels lived in poverty. mathilde and madame saw each other again and madame foriester was shocked when she saw the mathilde's appearance. The story end in madame foriester telling mathilde that the neckalce she lost was fake and worth almost nothing.Symbol use to their meaning: Fake diamon necklace represent deception. Necklace represent illusion of wealth.


Moral: Be weary of pride.
